Large Language Models Exhibit Normative Conformity

We examined whether conformity, a well-known behavior in human groups, also emerges among LLM agents. In experiments where multiple LLM agents make judgments within a group, we found that agents align with the majority even when the majority is clearly wrong, exhibiting normative conformity. The findings inform the validity of LLM-based social simulation and how AI may shape collective decision-making.
